Meet the Multi Academy Trust shaping the future of education

A new Multi Academy Trust is going from strength to strength, helping schools across the city region thrive through collaboration.

The Liverpool Diocese Schools Trust (LDST) was established 18 months ago following extensive consultation with all Church of England schools in the Diocese of Liverpool.

Since then, 16 schools have joined the Trust and are now working in partnership and collaborating within a strong and inclusive network, to address some common priorities, within a local context.

Despite being in the early stages of development, the LDST has ambitious plans to support and welcome even more schools within its Trust.

In a recent interview with Educate Magazine, Trust Education Officer, Laurie Kwissa (pictured right) said: “We believe that as a diocesan led Multi Academy Trust (MAT) we can create stronger bonds of collaboration and cooperation, sharing good practice, addressing areas of weakness and offering increased opportunities for professional development.”

“We currently have the capacity to welcome a further eight schools and we expect to do that over the next couple of years. Once at twenty four schools we will reassess and ensure all is working well.”

The Diocese of Liverpool has sponsored the Educate Awards for a number of years, with The Bishop of Liverpool, Rt. Revd. Paul Bayes supporting the Community Award. The LDST will continue this legacy as sponsors of the award going forward.

Laurie added: “The Liverpool Diocesan Schools Trust is delighted to be sponsoring the Community Partnership Award. Valuing the local is fundamental to LDST local schools, led by local Governors, serving local communities.

“We believe that schools are at the heart of their communities and can do so much work in partnership to promote inclusion and enhance what the local community can offer all.”
