The Educate Awards was founded by Kim O’Brien in 2012 and is the one night of the year where the excellence of schools in Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester is celebrated and rewarded in a unique fashion. Now in its 8th year, the amount of nominations submitted for the awards year upon year continues to grow at an exponential rate.
A total of 21 awards are contended for via nominations which are then shortlisted by a panel of judges. The shortlist is released prior to the event with the winner being told of their success during a prestigious and glamorous event in one of Liverpool’s finest venues, the Liverpool Cathedral on Friday 15th November 2019.
The event includes a pre-dinner champagne reception, a 3 course dinner, an extensive programme of entertainment and of course the awards ceremony itself. Each winner receives an award presented by one of the sponsors and their names entered onto the Educate Awards website winners’ page for all to see.
Over 600 guests attended in 2018 to celebrate the best of education in the North West and the schools, colleges and staff nominated for the awards. Performances from MODE, Olivia Williams, Charlotte Flynn, The Belvedere Academy and the Orquestra de Ritmo made for a wonderful night of entertainment in the iconic Liverpool Cathedral. As Mrs Christina Lavine, Headteacher at Riverside Primary School put it,
“The setting, entertainment and ambience were second to none. What a magical evening celebrating all that is great about education.”
